Hello, this is Baekrokdam Korean Medicine Clinic. One of the most frequent inquiries we receive from patients visiting our clinic is regarding "deer antler." Today, let's learn more about deer antler in detail.
"What is deer antler?"
Deer antler refers to the antlers of a male deer. Deer repeatedly grow and shed their antlers. The newly grown antlers are harvested and used while they are still in a soft state before completely hardening. It is primarily used for medicinal purposes and refers to the soft, velvety antlers that have not yet ossified.
"What are the benefits of deer antler?"
Deer antler has been used as a precious medicinal ingredient since ancient times. According to the Donguibogam, deer antler is recorded to have the effects of tonifying the five viscera and six bowels, promoting blood circulation, and enhancing virility. In modern medicine, deer antler is also known to have various benefits such as strengthening immunity, recovering from fatigue, promoting growth and development, and improving memory.
What kind of deer antler does Baekrokdam Korean Medicine Clinic use?
At Baekrokdam Korean Medicine Clinic, we insist on using only Russian Abaissk deer antler. The Abaissk region of Russia is known for its cold and rugged environment, where deer grow large and robust antlers with excellent medicinal efficacy. Furthermore, our clinic exclusively uses Abaissk deer antler that has received official import authorization from the Russian government.
Baekrokdam Korean Medicine Clinic, prioritizing our patients' health above all else! Epigastric Tenderness Upon Palpation: Epigastric Glomus Syndrome

Hello, I am Korean medical doctor Choi Yeon-seung from Baengnokdam Korean Medicine Clinic.

Today, I'd like to talk about vitreous floaters.

Have you ever experienced something like dust floating in front of your eyes?

Floaters can manifest in various forms, such as sudden black spots, thread-like shapes, or transparent cobwebs appearing in your field of vision.

Vitreous floaters are a condition caused by the degeneration of the vitreous humor inside the eye.

The vitreous humor in our eyes is a transparent, gel-like tissue that maintains the shape of the eyeball and allows light to pass through.

However, due to various causes such as aging, inflammation, or hemorrhage, the vitreous humor liquefies or becomes turbid, causing these opaque substances to float within the eye, which is precisely what vitreous floaters are.

While most floaters are a natural phenomenon associated with aging, they can also be an early symptom of serious ophthalmic diseases like retinal detachment or vitreous hemorrhage, so it is important to get an accurate diagnosis.

Floaters often improve naturally without specific treatment, but if symptoms are severe or cause discomfort in daily life, active treatment can be considered.

In Korean medicine, vitreous floaters are viewed as a disorder of qi and blood circulation within the eye and are treated accordingly.

Through acupuncture, herbal medicine, and pharmacopuncture treatments, we promote qi and blood circulation around the eyes and inhibit the degeneration of the vitreous humor to improve vitreous floaters.

In addition, we also provide guidance for lifestyle improvements to prevent recurrence and promote overall eye health.

If you are experiencing discomfort due to vitreous floaters, do not hesitate to visit Baengnokdam Korean Medicine Clinic for an accurate diagnosis and treatment.

We will do our best for your eye health.

Hello, I am Choi Yeon-seung, a Korean Medicine doctor at Baengnokdam Korean Medicine Clinic.
Today, I'd like to explain the difference between epilepsy and 'ganjil'.
First of all, I believe many people are quite confused by these two terms when used together.
Especially, the word 'ganjil' was an expression widely used in the past, and some people might even be more familiar with it than with 'epilepsy'.
However, if you understand the medical definitions and the difference between the two terms, you will be able to use the word 'epilepsy' more accurately in the future.
So, shall we learn more about the difference between epilepsy and 'ganjil'?

1. Epilepsy and 'Ganjil': What's the Difference?

To get straight to the point, the two terms refer to the same condition.
However, the term 'ganjil' is an older expression, and now the term 'epilepsy' is officially used.
In the past, the term 'ganjil' often led to negative social prejudice and stigma associated with the condition.
Accordingly, international health organizations, including the World Health Organization (WHO), recommend the use of the term epilepsy.

Epilepsy is a chronic neurological disorder caused by abnormal electrical activity in the brain.
Patients with epilepsy repeatedly experience seizures or convulsions, which can manifest in various forms depending on which part of the brain the abnormal activity originates from.
The term 'ganjil' is now rarely used in the medical community and has been replaced by the accurate and modern term epilepsy.

2. Epilepsy: Misconceptions and Truths

Let's take some time to clarify the misconceptions and truths about epilepsy.
Occasionally, some people misunderstand epilepsy as a 'mental illness', but it is a clear neurological disorder.
Also, it is not contagious, and it is very rarely hereditary.
Patients with epilepsy can fully lead normal daily lives through appropriate treatment and management.
Ultimately, I want to emphasize that epilepsy is a condition caused by brain dysfunction, and it requires understanding and support, not social prejudice or stigma.

I'll extract the core information and explain it in an easy-to-understand and engaging way.

First, let's briefly look at the history of Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy was first used in urology in the early 1980s to break up kidney stones.

Since then, its effectiveness has been proven as it's been utilized in various fields such as orthopedics and rehabilitation medicine for pain treatment and tissue regeneration.

In particular, it has shown excellent results in treating chronic pain, offering hope to many patients.

At Baengnokdam Korean Medicine Clinic, we apply this Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy tailored to each patient's symptoms and body constitution.

Now, let's take a detailed look at the principles of Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy works in three main ways.

First, pain reduction.

When shockwaves are delivered to the painful area, they stimulate nerve endings, inhibiting the secretion of pain-transmitting substances and raising the pain threshold, thereby reducing pain.

Furthermore, it helps improve blood circulation, remove inflammatory substances, and alleviate edema.

Second, tissue regeneration.

Shockwaves provide micro-stimuli to damaged tissues, promoting angiogenesis and increasing the secretion of growth factors, thereby aiding tissue regeneration.

This can accelerate the recovery of damaged tissues such as tendons, ligaments, and muscles.

Third, the effect of removing calcium deposits.

Some patients with chronic pain experience pain due to calcium deposits accumulating in their tendons or ligaments.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy helps break down these calcium deposits into smaller pieces, facilitating their expulsion from the body.

This can lead to pain relief and smoother joint movement.

Isn't that fascinating?

At Baengnokdam Korean Medicine Clinic, we leverage these advantages of Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy to effectively treat our patients' pain.

We provide customized treatment, comprehensively considering each patient's symptoms, body constitution, pain location, and severity.

Our clinic's Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy is a non-surgical, non-invasive method with almost no side effects, and pain improvement can be expected in a short amount of time.

Furthermore, daily life can be resumed immediately after the procedure, making it a suitable treatment for busy modern individuals.

We hope that through Baengnokdam Korean Medicine Clinic's Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy, you can overcome chronic pain and regain a healthy and vibrant daily life.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us anytime.

Thank you.
