Sweat on My Hands | Incheon Hyperhidrosis

The sweat on my hands – could it be a sign that my feelings are leaking out?

Hello. I am psychiatrist Jang Jinyong.

Today, I'd like to talk about Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which I primarily use in psychiatric treatment.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is a treatment method that resolves problems through changes in thoughts and behaviors.

Simply put, it's based on the principle that because thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are interconnected, we can overcome difficulties by understanding and regulating these connections.

For example, if you feel anxious, you might experience physical symptoms like a racing heart and sweaty hands.

In such cases, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps change the thoughts (cognitions) that trigger anxiety and teaches how to manage the behaviors that manifest when you're anxious.

So now, I will explain in detail the process of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and how I walk this journey with my patients.

From the next post, shall we truly embark on the journey of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

My stomach often hurts, chronic stress-related abdominal pain in a woman in her 20s

A woman in her late 20s,... When we say "late 20s," we're generally referring to the mid-to-late 20s, specifically ages 25 to 29. This woman in her late 20s visited us due to uterine fibroids. She had undergone various tests at other hospitals, but no clear cause was found, and she was even told that she would need surgery at her age, in her late 20s. Uterine fibroids are benign tumors that form in the uterus. You can think of it this way: if they form in the ovaries, they're ovarian cysts; if they form in the uterus, they're uterine fibroids. Most uterine fibroids are asymptomatic, but if the lumps grow larger or become numerous,

menorrhagia (heavy menstrual bleeding)

pelvic pain

dyspareunia (painful intercourse)

frequent urination

constipation

may appear. Uterine fibroids are also one of the leading causes of severe menstrual cramps. Generally, after menopause, their size decreases, and often, no specific treatment is necessary. However, the woman who visited today is a young woman in her late 20s, a long way from menopause, so we cannot hastily recommend surgery. This is because after surgery, there is a risk of recurrence, and problems with pregnancy and childbirth can arise. Furthermore, she is an unmarried woman. Therefore, her uterine fibroids must be treated without surgery. This woman had visited quite a few hospitals, and we analyzed why she hadn't received treatment:

Her blood circulation and immunity were weakened, so this area needed to be treated.

The uterine fibroids themselves were not a major problem, but she hadn't received a proper explanation about this.

Her hormonal imbalance was severe, so this needed intensive treatment.

For this woman, we decided to proceed with treatment that first improves blood circulation and immunity while restoring hormonal balance. Once a hormonal imbalance occurs, it can worsen uncontrollably, so it's crucial to correct it as soon as the imbalance begins. As treatment progresses, we expect the size of this woman's uterine fibroids to decrease.

Recently, to receive Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy at our clinic...

blog.naver.com

In my previous post, I discussed conditions for which Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy is effective.

In this post, we'll delve deeper into what Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy is and how its treatment principles work.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive treatment method that generates shockwaves externally and delivers them to the painful area for treatment.

It's called "Extracorporeal Shockwave" because the shockwaves are generated outside the body.

There are two types of shockwaves used in Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy: Radial Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (RSWT), which uses air pressure, and Focused Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (FSWT), which uses an electro-magnetic field.

Many difficult terms, aren't there?

But don't worry. I'll extract the core information and explain it in an easy-to-understand and engaging way.

First, let's briefly look at the history of Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy was first used in urology in the early 1980s to break up kidney stones.

Since then, its effectiveness has been proven as it's been utilized in various fields such as orthopedics and rehabilitation medicine for pain treatment and tissue regeneration.

In particular, it has shown excellent results in treating chronic pain, offering hope to many patients.

At Baengnokdam Korean Medicine Clinic, we apply this Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy tailored to each patient's symptoms and body constitution.

Now, let's take a detailed look at the principles of Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy works in three main ways.

First, pain reduction.

When shockwaves are delivered to the painful area, they stimulate nerve endings, inhibiting the secretion of pain-transmitting substances and raising the pain threshold, thereby reducing pain.

Furthermore, it helps improve blood circulation, remove inflammatory substances, and alleviate edema.

Second, tissue regeneration.

Shockwaves provide micro-stimuli to damaged tissues, promoting angiogenesis and increasing the secretion of growth factors, thereby aiding tissue regeneration.

This can accelerate the recovery of damaged tissues such as tendons, ligaments, and muscles.

Third, the effect of removing calcium deposits.

Some patients with chronic pain experience pain due to calcium deposits accumulating in their tendons or ligaments.

Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy helps break down these calcium deposits into smaller pieces, facilitating their expulsion from the body.

This can lead to pain relief and smoother joint movement.

Isn't that fascinating?

At Baengnokdam Korean Medicine Clinic, we leverage these advantages of Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy to effectively treat our patients' pain.

We provide customized treatment, comprehensively considering each patient's symptoms, body constitution, pain location, and severity.

Our clinic's Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy is a non-surgical, non-invasive method with almost no side effects, and pain improvement can be expected in a short amount of time.

Furthermore, daily life can be resumed immediately after the procedure, making it a suitable treatment for busy modern individuals.

We hope that through Baengnokdam Korean Medicine Clinic's Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy, you can overcome chronic pain and regain a healthy and vibrant daily life.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us anytime.

Thank you.
