Skin symptoms are just the tip of the iceberg.
The internal heat toxins and immune imbalances that are not visible must be addressed.

these are hypersensitive reactions of the immune system.
It itches every night, making it hard to sleep,

Recurring skin conditions are not simply "skin problems." They occur when toxins accumulated in the body are not discharged, and an overreactive immune system manifests through the skin.
Skin diseases persist and recur when the digestive system (spleen and stomach) is weak and toxins build up, when the liver's detoxification function declines, or when the body's temperature regulation fails.
At Baekrokdam Korean Medicine Clinic, we use the Qi-Blood/Yin-Yang 4-Axis Functional Evaluation to identify which internal organs are weakened, where toxins have accumulated, and where heat-toxins (熱毒) and damp-phlegm (濕痰) are concentrated.
Rather than masking symptoms with steroids, we empty the body of toxins and restore immunity to cultivate the body's own power to heal the skin.
Reduces itching and inflammation by discharging heat-toxins and waste accumulated in the body.
Stabilizes an overactive immune system and balances the internal organs.
Regenerates the damaged skin barrier and increases moisturizing capacity to prevent recurrence.

I have met many patients who came after visiting multiple medical institutions and departments for persistent or recurrent conditions. Symptoms normally handled by different specialties—such as abdominal pain, headaches, palpitations, dizziness, and insomnia—may overlap in one person. Sometimes there is no clear improvement despite taking medication for each symptom, and being unwell gradually becomes part of daily life. In these cases, I look beyond individual diagnoses and examine how the symptoms connect and change together.
Asking only about the most uncomfortable symptom today does not reveal the full course. I look at when the body first began to change and what happened after illness, surgery, childbirth, or starting and stopping medication. I also review changes in weight, diet, and sleep, then trace which symptoms improved with previous treatment and which remained.
Test results, diagnoses, and the course of previous treatment are important for understanding the current condition. Clinical research in modern Korean medicine, physiological and pathological research in modern medicine, and observations recorded in classical Korean medicine texts offer different perspectives on the same body. Rather than fitting a patient into one perspective, I consider what each can and cannot explain and look for clues that connect symptoms and treatment histories that were previously considered separately.
Through pulse diagnosis and questionnaires,
we identify the internal causes of skin conditions.
Through Korean herbal medicine and acupuncture treatments,
we eliminate toxins and stabilize the immune system.
Through pharmacopuncture and light therapy,
we regenerate damaged skin.
Through dietary therapy and lifestyle management,
we maintain skin free from recurrence.
A. Do not stop or reduce steroid medication on your own. Discuss any tapering plan with the clinician who prescribed it, and tell them about any herbal treatment you are considering.
A. It varies depending on your skin's turnover cycle and the chronicity of the condition, but generally, consistent treatment and care for 3 months or more are required.
A. Contact the clinic promptly if your symptoms worsen or new symptoms appear. Worsening should not be assumed to be a detox reaction or a normal sign of healing; a clinician needs to assess possible adverse effects or a change in your condition.
