Why Do Warts Appear?
Warts are a viral disease caused by the HPV virus. They are primarily described as a type of benign tumor where the skin grows distinctively from the surrounding areas. The virus causes changes in skin cells, leading them to develop their characteristic appearance.
Various Types of Warts
Warts are all viral skin infections, though their location and shape may vary slightly depending on the type of virus.Common Warts: Characterized by being raised, distinct from the surrounding skin, and hard to the touch.Filiform Warts: Appear as thin, thread-like protrusions.Flat Warts: Appear flat on the skin compared to common or filiform warts.
Warts Classified by Location
Warts are categorized by their affected area, including plantar warts, finger warts, periungual warts, oral warts, and genital warts. Frequently touching or scratching an infected area can cause the warts to spread to other parts of the body.
Immunity and Warts
Immunity plays a significant role in viral activity. If immunity is compromised, warts may occur more easily or symptoms may worsen. The severe presentation of warts in patients with immunodeficiency due to HIV infection also illustrates the importance of immunity.
Treatment of Warts
Wart treatment aims for physical removal, viral suppression, promotion of skin regeneration, and immune system enhancement.Laser Therapy and Cryotherapy: These methods physically remove warts but can be accompanied by pain.Traditional Korean Medicine Treatment: Methods such as moxibustion, bee venom acupuncture, and acupuncture are used to regulate viral activity and strengthen systemic immunity. Especially in children, who are sensitive to pain, herbal medicine treatment is sometimes preferred.
Recurrent Warts
If warts frequently recur or do not respond well to other treatments, Traditional Korean Medicine treatment can be considered.
