Why You Need an InBody-Linked App

A single weight number doesn't clearly show your body's changes. Even if it's the same 60kg, a 60kg achieved through increased skeletal muscle mass and decreased body fat is a completely different body than a 60kg reached through muscle loss. Body composition change tracking is needed, but comparing paper results one by one is quite inconvenient.

An InBody-linked app fills this gap. Most Used InBody Apps

Currently, there are two main official InBody apps. One is the InBody app, and the other is the InBody+ app.

  • InBody app: This app imports results measured from InBody main units at gyms or health screening centers, the InBodyBAND series, and some watches into a smartphone. Since you can also keep records of exercise and meals, it is great to use like a health management app. It runs on Android 7.0 or higher and iOS 13 or higher.
  • InBody+ app: This app is used in pair with home-use InBody devices such as InBody Fit, H30, and H40. It records body composition measured at home every time and manages weight, skeletal muscle mass, body fat mass, and body composition score (Fitscore) through graphs. It also provides the 'InBody Cluster,' which analyzes the past month's data on the 1st of every month.

I will organize this for you so you do not get confused in the App Store. If you want to see gym measurement results, search for "InBody"; if you use Fit/H30/H40 at home, search for "InBody+" or "InBody+".

There is one thing that must be pointed out here. Only values from personal InBody devices (dial, band, etc.) are entered into the Apple Health app (HealthKit) on iOS. Gym public InBody measurement values can only be checked in the InBody app. If you intend to seriously collect gym InBody data, the InBody app is effectively the standard.

How to Sync with Gym InBody

When listening to the stories of those who visit because syncing is not working, the points where they get stuck are almost identical. It is usually a case where the settings on the gym's InBody machine are missing or the entered information is mismatched.

  1. Search for "InBody" in the Play Store or App Store to install it and sign up for a membership.
  2. The phone number, height, weight, and gender written during sign-up must be identical to the information registered at the gym for automatic syncing to occur. In particular, if the phone numbers are different, syncing will not work.
  3. When measuring on the gym's InBody, if a member/non-member selection screen appears, select 'Member' and enter your phone number.

Settings on the gym's side must also be configured. The administrator mode password is usually the default value 0000. Here, the internet connection (Wi-Fi or LAN) must be established and the cloud service use must be turned on to 'O' for data to transfer from the InBody server to the app. If the results do not appear in the app after measurement, please ask your trainer once, "Is the cloud service turned on?"

Home InBody Syncing (InBody+)

Those who wish to measure frequently at home often get a home InBody and use it by Bluetooth syncing with the InBody+ app. The measurement time is short (usually think of measuring calmly after finishing a workout for about 10 to 30 minutes) and if measured under the same conditions every day, the trend of change is seen much more clearly.

However, home versions have simpler items than the professional InBody used in gyms. Still, it is more than enough for the purpose of following the flow of the body composition score (Fitscore). Just keep the measurement conditions consistent. For example, the same time of day, on an empty stomach, and immediately after using the restroom.

In Korean medicine, we read the body not by weight, but by constitution and the state of qi and blood.   • Before your next gym visit, install the InBody app and complete the membership registration. When signing up, the phone number must be the same as the number registered at the gym.
  • If you use a home InBody, install the InBody+ app and try fixing the measurement time to once a day under the same conditions. Morning on an empty stomach is the most stable.
  • Measuring InBody frequently does not provide the answer. An interval of about 2 weeks is just right for reading the trend of change. If you measure every day, your mind is bound to be shaken by routine fluctuations in water.
  • After measuring, do not look only at the weight, but also make a note of the body fat percentage and skeletal muscle mass. It is a real change only when those two numbers move together.

Collecting figures may seem like nothing, but once they accumulate for two or three months, they become your most honest personal data. The app simply organizes those records for you.
